The Orders of the Trees
Well before the rise of the Rat Empire and the ensuing cities, some rodents took to the forests in order to protect and also to tap into their spiritual attributes. These custodians lead a monastic life and devote themselves fully to the woods and to the crafts of their particular order. The Order of the Oak concentrates on martial arts while the Order of the Pine has dedicated themselves to artistic expression. The Orders do not always see eye-to-eye, a fact that has kept them from becoming a serious threat to the Rat Empire.
